SHUTEEN ERDENEBAATAR
QUARTET

Erdenebaatar's quartet, which is her core working band, is much in demand in Germany. Although pianist and composer Shuteen Erdenebaatar's quartet has a standard jazz line-up (piano, bass, saxophone and drums), Erdenebaatar succeeds in giving this format a fresh, modern coloration that is all her own. Her distinctive sound can be recognized in the energetic freedom and dynamic unity with which she leads her band, always encouraging them to harmonize individually and as a group with instinctive free improvisation and expressive interaction leading them to a sophistication of interplay beyond expectation for their youthful years.
Her quartet is made up of award-winning young musicians who are also successful bandleaders on their own right. In addition to rhythmically and melodically sophisticated, all-rounder bassist Nils Kugelmann and highly virtuosic alto saxophonist and recorder player Jakob Manz, the dynamic and creative drumming of Amir Bresler rounds off the sound together with the very personal and engaging piano sound of Shuteen Erdenebaatar.

The quartet was awarded with the prestigious German Jazz Award 2024 in the category of "Ensemble of the Year". Furthermore they won the 1st prize at the Creative Music Awad 2024, 1st prize and the audience award of the legendary Young Munich Jazz Award 2022 and the 2nd prize for the 7 Virtual Jazz Club Global Contest. The quartet's debut album "RISING SUN" was released on September 15, 2023 on New York based, multi-GRAMMY® winning label Motéma Music.
